Usage Alerts
Understand SupaGuard's usage notifications and how to respond to low credit warnings.
SupaGuard proactively notifies you about credit usage so you're never caught off guard. This guide explains our alert system and how to respond.
Alert Types
90% Usage Warning
When you've used 90% of your base credits, you'll receive an email notification.
Why this matters:
- Gives you time to buy top-ups or upgrade before running out
- Based on your 7-day usage average to predict when you'll exhaust credits
- Sent once per billing cycle (not repeatedly)
What to do:
- Review your current usage in Billing Settings
- Consider buying Top-Up Credits if you expect continued high usage
- Upgrade your plan if your usage has permanently increased
Low Credit Warning
When your base and extra credits are running very low, you'll receive an urgent notification.
Why this matters:
- We allow a small buffer so your monitoring continues uninterrupted while you take action
- This is a warning that action is needed soon
What to do:
- Buy Top-Up Credits immediately — Fastest way to restore your balance
- Upgrade your plan — If your usage has grown beyond your current tier
- Check for any runaway or inefficient tests consuming excessive credits
Credit Exhaustion
If all credits are exhausted, new test runs will be paused.
Why this matters:
- Your monitoring checks will stop running until credits are available
- Alerts won't fire because checks aren't executing
- Critical test coverage will be interrupted
What to do:
- Buy Top-Up Credits — Takes effect immediately
- Upgrade your plan — Increases your base credit allocation
- Wait for billing cycle reset (not recommended for critical monitoring)

Preventing Credit Exhaustion

Having extra credits on hand ensures you're never caught without coverage:
- Go to Billing Settings
- Click Buy Credits
- Purchase a credit pack for your plan tier
Right-Size Your Plan
If you consistently use more than 80% of your base credits, consider upgrading:
| Current Plan | Next Option | Included Runs |
|---|---|---|
| Hacker (1,000) | Startup | 20,000/month |
| Startup (20,000) | Scale | 100,000/month |
| Scale (100,000) | Enterprise | Custom volume |
Optimize Test Efficiency
Reduce credit consumption by optimizing your tests:
- Combine related assertions — Run fewer, more comprehensive tests
- Use efficient selectors — Reduce page interaction time
- Skip unnecessary waits — Remove artificial delays from scripts
FAQs
Can I disable usage alerts?
No, usage alerts are mandatory to protect your monitoring coverage. You can't disable them, but you can ensure you have enough credits to avoid receiving them.
Will my monitoring stop immediately when credits run out?
No, we allow a small buffer so your monitoring continues while you take action. Checks only pause once all credits are fully exhausted.
What if I'm on vacation when I get an alert?
We recommend keeping extra credits on hand so you don't need to take immediate action. Top-up credits never expire, making them perfect for peace of mind.
How do I know if my team is being notified?
Billing alerts go to the organization owner and admins. Check your team settings to ensure the right people have admin access for billing notifications.
